11-18yrs Taranaki Tuataras Climbing Social Nights

A Youth Climbing Club for young people aged 11-18.

Taranaki Tuataras is a social climbing club set up for youth with a passion for climbing. We do not push learning, but encourage all to develop their skills and abilities. The club also facilitates Taranaki in the North Island Regional Climbing Competitions and is a good way to get some gear confidence before heading outside climbing with experienced clubs and Mentors.

Club members are taught safe belaying skills, climbing technique and lead climbing skills.

When:
Tuesdays 5.30-7pm – Top Rope Belaying using a friction device and practice leading Level 3 – 5;
Tuesdays  7-8:30pm – Lead Climbing and belaying Level 4 – 6;
Wednesdays 5.30-7pm – Speed, bouldering and endurance Level 5 – 7;

A youth club set up for those with a passion for all things climbing. Experienced instructors fill the role of facilitators to encourage climbers to pursue their own interests, enabling youth to learn new skills and increase their overall ability.
We also provide opportunities to compete at regional North Island climbing competitions which are fun friendly competitions that some choose to do to prepare for the much more serious National Competitions.
