Here at The Crux Climbing Gym, we offer a wide range of courses that can help you take the next steps in developing your climbing abilities.
Women’s Climbing Night
Providing ladies with an opportunity to meet, chat and make friends and maybe find a regular climbing partner but also to have the platform to climb, improve and feel empowered as a group.
Session will start with a warm up to get everyone ready and then our instructors will be on hand to offer tips and advice on technique and improving you’re climbing.
- When: 2nd & 4th Friday of every month 7:15-9:00pm
- Cost: $17 including harness (Crux members free)
- Includes complimentary shoe hire valued at $4 and ongoing support with climbing achievement booklets
June/July 2024 – 14yrs+ Personal and Teaching Skill Workshops 7-9pm
Spaces limited, minimum 1 experienced coach/instructor to 6 participants

Wednesday 12th June 7—9pm
-Tying in and friction device Belaying
-Intermediate Equipment care & use
-Practice leading
-Foot, Hands and Movement technique for climbs 17-24 with occasional resting on rope
Poutū Ono — Intro to Boulder & Lead
Date change due to Banff –Wednesday 26th June 7-9pm
-Climbing 14-19 without resting on a top rope or lead rope
-Climbing goal setting

Poutū Whetu—Training skills
-Safe/Unsafe Down Climb Belaying on a assisted braking device
-Pre planning a hand/foot sequence
-Climbing a route on lead first go
-Climbing efficiently with momentum
Poutū Waru — Rope Skills
Date change due to Banff – Monday 15th July 7-9pm
-Dynamic lead belaying
-Avoiding significant and critical hazards while lead climbing and belaying . Eg. change in angle roof to vertical or ledge to vertical.
-Stay safe near a drop
-Ascend up and descend down a fixed
Cost:
$80 for up to 3 x 2 hour sessions
$120 up to 5 x 2 hour sessions and includes one month membership worth $55
