The YMCA offers opportunities for young people to fulfil their potential through youth development programmes.

We know our young people come from all walks of life, schooling and cultural backgrounds.
YMCA youth development programmes develop the important skills young people need including communication, goal setting, group participation, and confidence.

The Y Taranaki

YMCA Taranaki offers the following programmes

Youth Justice Programmes - supported bail

  • Fresh Start Mentoring & Extended mentoring
  • Mentoring support for 11 years old to 18 years old
  • Referral’s from Oranga Tamariki & NZ Police

Specialist youth service Corp (SYSCO)

  • 20 week Youth Justice Programme
  • Aged from 14 years old to 17 years old
  • Referrals from Oranga Tamariki & NZ Police

fees for service

  • Mentoring services for 10 year olds to 18 year olds
  • Can be referred by anyone
  • Quoted service

Transition to adulthood Support Service

  • Support for rangatahi who have been in the care of Oranga Tamariki
  • Aged from 16 years old to 21 years old
  • Referrals from Oranga Tamariki or Self-referrals
  • New Zealand wide service
